Time for a 180

Dear World,

If you have anything else to convey to me this week that is going to just royally piss me off and have me running around with my hair on fire and my biscuits fully burning, bring it TODAY with everything else so I can get it out of the way all at once because I am not remotely putting up with your sorry *%$# beyond this 24-hour window.  Thank you.  Please drive through.

The weekend was good, although bleeping hot.  Seriously, I’m done with the setting of records for, I don’t know, years.  I realize that time is moving quite a bit faster in my old age, but seriously, are we setting temperature records more than we used to or what?  Are we just paying attention more?  I think yes to #1 and no to #2.  Don’t tell me that meteorologists weren’t as anal 1 and 2 decades ago as they are now.  I’m a nerd myself, so no way are you going to sell me that puckey, bub.  No way.

Oh yeah, back to the weekend.  Got a lot done and at the same time felt like I didn’t do much, so that was a win.  We briefly watched some old Tim Conway skits last night before Boy went to bed.  Though I am, of course, a big fan of rapid fire, in your face, throwing 9 million things at you at once dramatic television, I also really, really miss the days of the nice slow funny when escapism didn’t take so much effort or concentration.  Though recent efforts by the networks haven’t been shown to support the niche, I still hope that someday there will be the return of the true “forget your day because you can’t help but do so” variety show.  I will forever miss The Carol Burnett Show.  It’s damn hard to be upset about anything when you’re watching Conway’s genius improv breaking Harvey Korman into a million pieces and Korman’s near-agony at trying not to openly laugh.*

And so goes my effort to rouse myself from my cantankerous mood, which, true to my own hype, worked.  🙂  Hope it did for you too!

*This particular one chosen because it is a favorite of my husband’s.  🙂

I loved when Harvey Korman would crack up on that show. I think one of my very favorites was the ‘Gone With The Wind’ one. Such a fun show. I care for much tv at all anymore so seeing the old stuff from when I actually DID like it, is very fun for me!

Love love LOVE Korman and Conway, and that clip has always been one of my (and Bill’s) favorites.
