Well, The Boy never went over 99.8 and was fever-free when I checked him in the middle of the night and this morning, so off to school he went. Hopefully it will be nothing, or at least be something we avoid for a bit longer. Once it gets into the school, it’s incredibly hard to avoid it, and we have a school of just over 150 kids so it doesn’t take long for the wildfire to spread. On the other hand, it can be easier to contain if you catch it at the just the right time. I can dream. 🙂 Today, I’m just happy that he got to go to school so he can get up on stage later and perform. I think he’s equal parts excited and scared to death, but I can’t wait to see it!
MTAE nailed that wicked part of parenting: the waiting, and that powerless feeling you have while you do. Someone asked me once what it was like to be a parent. I said, Well, rip your heart out of your chest, give it legs, and send it out into traffic knowing that all you can do is give directions once in a while but basically have to just sit there and watch while it does whatever it’s going to do 98% of the time. That’s pretty much it! \m/ \m/ Rockin!
In other totally not news, I heard this song on the radio on the way home yesterday and remembered that I loved it but couldn’t remember who it was. (Oh menopause, why dost thou taunt me so…) A quick Google and then to YouTube for Vida la Vida by Coldplay, and I found something that I thought was interesting in an “I can’t believe this appealed to me” kind of way. Then I went off to find the actual video of the song, and yikes. First of all, what an incredibly self-important POS THAT was – W.O.W. Secondly, Chris whatshisface, the singer, spends the entire video attempting to channel Mick Jagger, Bono, one of my ex-boyfriends, and Martin Short’s Ed Grimley — all at the same time. Well, you watch it and tell me I’m lyin’!
So, because I’m like that, I’m sharing both here. I warn you: You’re never getting these 9 minutes or whatever back, but at least you’ll have a good beat and a good laugh (because I am SO right on the channeling…)
Surprisingly fitting and kinda cool:
Self-important poppycock, now with channeling:
(Stupid disabling of embedding: Here, not like just the picture up there doesn’t convey it, but the Ed Grimley moments are still a crack-up.)
Happiest of Fridays to you, Kids!
